Head of Finance
£41,448 per annum FTE, paid pro rata for part-time hours Hours:
28 hours per week across Monday to Friday with some flexibility on days and hours.
We are seeking an experienced Finance Lead to oversee the finance function of our charity providing end-of-life care services. This is a key role responsible for financial management, line managing the finance team, ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures, and providing confidential support to the senior management team and Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare management accounts, reports and paperwork for meetings
  • Administer invoicing, payments, petty cash, and donations
  • Complete VAT, payroll, Gift Aid and other HMRC returns
  • Maintain the accounting system (Sage) and finances administration
  • Prepare financial forecasts, projections and other reports
  • Manage all charity bank accounts
  • Assist in preparation of business cases and the annual audit
  • Line manage the Finance Assistant

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (Essential)
  • Part or full AAT qualified or equivalent accounting qualification (Essential)
  • Proven experience in a busy finance role, multitasking effectively
  • Excellent IT and Excel skills
  • Understanding of charity/palliative care sector (Desirable)
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities
  • Logical and methodical approach
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings
