Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a food and beverage business, experiencing growth and based in Coalville, in the recruitment of a Senior Bookkeeper. The purpose of the role is to maintain the financial records for a 2.5 million turnover business with precision, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. Reporting to the Managing Director this role will grow with the business and facilitate the development of your career. You will join a collaborative team, passionate about contributing to the overall success of the business and experience genuine team spirit.
This is a sole charge office-based role in which you can take ownership for the accounting function from start to finish. Initially bringing the accounts and payroll function in house, there will be the opportunity to remodel and update systems and processes, to support the needs of the business and achieve maximum efficiency.
Day to day duties of the role:
- Maintain and update day to day transactions on the purchase and sales ledgers.
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and setting up payments.
- Reconciling bank statements.
- Processing credit card payments.
- Management of expenses.
- Calculation of VAT returns and management of all HMRC affairs in respect of VAT and PAYE, submitting all necessary returns and being the point of contact.
- Reconciling accounts.
- Posting debits and credits – month end trail balance.
- Prepare financial reports daily, weekly and monthly: ensure compliance with organisational financial policies.
- Chase outstanding debtors by telephone and email.
- Process the monthly payroll for 20 employees.
- Pension administration.
- Produce weekly cash flow reports.
- Prepare year-end accounts and liaison with the external Accountants.
- Answer phone calls and respond to emails professionally.
- HR administration; updating holiday records, drafting employee contracts.
- Correspond with and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customers, delivering exceptional customer service.
- Maintaining an orderly accounting filing system.
- Providing administrative support as needed.
Requirements & Skills
- Strong bookkeeping skills and previous experience in a similar role
- Solid organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Excellent and confident communicator, including relationship building with individuals across the business
- Highly computer literate with experience of accounting packages
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Team orientated
- Essential; proficiency in use of Excel and ideally Goggle Sheets.
Remuneration
- Salary £38-45,000 pa
- Hours: Monday to Friday. 8.30 am – 5.00 pm (1/2-hour lunch daily) – 40-hour week
- Holidays: 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays – increasing with length of employment
