Accountancy Recruit have another Financial Controller Vacancy for a Basingstoke based client which is being handled by our South East team

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Financial Controller to join a well established company specialising in the installation of security and fire alarm systems into commercial premises. Based in Basingstoke, this well respected operation, require a commercially focussed senior finance professional to provide finance, accounting and some commercial support across the organisation during this crucial growth period. Reporting to and working in conjunction with an Entrepreneurial Managing Director to help drive the business forward this is an excellent opportunity for professional and personal growth.
Key duties will encompass:

  • Implement, develop and maintain appropriate finance systems and processes to control and manage the company’s financial affairs;
  • A thorough understanding of AP and AR processes with the inclination to support when necessary.
  • In depth knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliations and of preparing consolidated management accounts, cash flow forecasts and prepare and review budgets
  • Update forecasts with risks and opportunities to current plan
  • Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Analyse historic performance data, understand and explain variances and implement improvements
  • Work closely with managers and colleagues to plan, monitor and report on performance against budgets
  • Previous staff management experience. Organise and prioritise workloads and work to strict timetables and oversee the work and performance of the Accounts Team
  • With the MD, help to formulate strategic and long-term finance plans;
  • Research and report on factors influencing change performance.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities;
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation and help ensure best financial management practice is always applied;
  • Manage the company’s VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE and other tax affairs

About you:

  • AAT qualified, CIMA/ACCA/ACA finalist or QBE
  • Strong commercial awareness with good basic financial knowledge and experience
  • Construction industry experience would be an advantage, incorporating project cost reviews plus valuations ahead of sales invoicing and followed by customer stage payment activity
  • Flexibility of travelling to other locations when required
  • Experience of utilising financial software, ideally Sage, and very strong MS Excel skills
  • Ability to simplify problems in order to explore and evaluate them systematically with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate easily with non-finance staff with experience of interacting with all levels within a business including operational managers – a good networker who can build trusting relationships and can motivate others
  • Ability to prioritise and work effectively under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, drive and commitment
  • Creative and analytical problem solving skills to ensure effective delivery of outcomes
  • Being discrete with excellent interpersonal and strong cross-functional communication skills
  • Methods and techniques for preparing and presenting business cases, and delivering effective reports and presentations with the ability to quickly assimilate knowledge from outside own area of expertise
  • Passionate about ensuring that all products and services are delivered in the best possible way, with customer focus
