Accountancy Recruit have another Purchase Ledger Clerk job vacancy for a Manchester based client – handled by our North West team

We are partnering with a Manchester based Engineering company to recruit a Purchase Ledger Clerk who will work with the Financial Controller to process invoices and deal with supplier queries.  The Purchase Ledger Clerk will have strong attention to detail, be able to identify process improvements and communicate effectively.  The role will also involve some account assistant responsibilities:

• Matching, checking and coding approximately 700 invoices per week, dealing with PDF invoices and moving them through the approval process in the ERP system.
• Making payments via BACS and cheques and implementing a payment forecasting process to ensure timely payments
• Processing staff expenses
• Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details
• Reconciliation of supplier statements
• Make improvements to the coding and scanning process to automate as much as possible
• Posting journals
• Producing weekly reports as required
• Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
• Reviewing systems and processes and making improvements where necessary

The Purchase Ledger Clerk will have the following skills and experience:

• Some work towards AAT preferred but not essential
• Excellent communication skills
• Solid team working skills
• Self-disciplined and efficient, with a flexible and proactive nature
• Experienced in Excel and Microsoft office packages
• Knowledge of software packages and the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Demonstrable experience of bookkeeping
• Ability to work to deadlines
